Designer

Reports to: Group Creative Director

You build kick-ass web banners, and your portfolio proves it...

We're a downtown LA cross-cultural agency seeking a conceptual, multi-talented designer. You think in terms of "big ideas" with integration across digital and traditional media. You understand the difference between a concept and a tactic/execution. You are well versed in all things digital: social, web banner design & animation, mobile ads, basic motion graphics, video editing, and even a bit of photography. You know what it's like to work in a medium-sized ad shop that is growing quickly, rolling with the punches, turning on a dime, and always landing on your feet.
And you love the idea of working in a multicultural team environment in Downtown Los Angeles, at the heart of the resurgent Broadway Theater District, surrounded by incredible food and a surprisingly lively urban environment.

Despite your broad range of capabilities, you're still eager to learn what you don't already know. You're extremely creative, but also have an "eagle-eye" for detail, and are able to conceptualize and execute creative work that faithfully adheres to a given strategic framework. Short timelines and quick turnarounds don't scare you. You're also a team player, comfortable collaborating in a multi-cultural staff environment. Spanish/ billingual skills a massive plus!

Qualifications

  • Related Bachelor's degree or certificate from accredited trade school, college or university, and 2-4 years of experience in an advertising or digital design agency environment
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Illustrator, InDesign, Animate, After Effects, Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, in particular), HTML5 scripting (web banner development and animation), and current web standards (CSS3 a plus, but not required)
  • Understanding of digital interfaces (desktop, tablet, mobile), interactivity and basic UX/UI
  • Strong digital illustration, info graphic design and typography skills
  • Basic motion graphics design and animation (kinetic typography)
  • Basic photography and video editing skills strongly preferred
  • Strong conceptual thinking
  • Ability to multitask, from one project to the next, with ease and flexibility
  • Ability to contribute ideas, and execute ideas of others quickly and competently, but also form part of the initial creative process, as warranted
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team or take on assignments independently
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Willingness and ability to stay on top of the latest visual design trends, to ensure creative work remains forward-thinking and timeless
  • Bilingual capabilities (Spanish/English) a huge plus
